AVOCADOSAURUS

AVOCADOSAURUS

.

.

The army green skin of my avocado

Bumpy and pebbly and cool as room temperature

A texture and color no human could exactly reproduce

A braille message from the universe I must interpret

It made me think of the skin of a dinosaur

(Although I have never seen the skin of a dinosaur)

I have imagined it many times

I pick the avocado up and close my eyes

Feel the irregularities of the peel

And for a tiny moment I am transported to millions

And millions of misty years ago

Where I hold an impossibly small dinosaur in my hand
