SCULPTING SADNESS

.

.

Life had dropped a big gray monolithic block

Of misery and despair

Directly in the path, blocking the way

Almost blotting out the Sun

With its icy shadow

The only thing to do was to

Start chipping away at it, chisel blow

By resounding chisel blow, striking

Using what strength and power

Can be gotten from within

Letting the chips fall where they may

Hard tedious work, day after day

Until it was sculpted into something more manageable

Useful ...or even beautiful

A monument to patience, effort

The noble ability of the soul to rise

Above and create something good

Something enduring and inspiring

Perhaps for the ages to come

HIGH FLYING

.

.

I moved my computer mouse so vigorously

That the little arrow took off

From the monitor screen

And flew around the room

Pointing out various things

That I might be interested in seeing

More closely

TRANSMUTAION

What good to me are my bad memories?

I use all my ever-increasing alchemical skills

To turn the lead of sorrow and disappointment

Into the gold of lessons and learning experiences

A treasure I can then share with others

STRENGTH

There is a predator

Inside my mind

Crouching invisible in the tall grass

Waiting to pounce on a reason to be unhappy

Make a bloody meal of it

To face and tame this predator

I need grace and strength

MERCILESS

.

.

It's a law of nature

Adapt or die

Don't know if I can do it

But I'm sure gonna try

BEHOLD

.

Everybody knows a witch

Even though everybody

May not know they know

A witch

Still, the witch knows they know

Or do not know

This makes no difference to the witch

As it makes no difference to the moon

If it is observed or not

The moon travels silently past

Glowing in the darkness

Seen or unseen

Full or crescent

Flowing past without fanfare

Like a witch

Whose heart is like an altar

Ablaze with the mysterious powers

That rule the stars

BRING TRAIL MIX

I do not hope to prevent you

From making mistakes

Nor should you hope to prevent me

From making mistakes

But I do wish to provide emotional support

As you make decisions

While I accompany you

On this long dusty trail

Of our destinies

IN MY YOUTH

When I was young

I was foolish and had crazy notions

Now that I am older

I am foolish and have crazy notions.

DOWN THE GARDEN PATH

Since I have to think about something

I might as well think something nice

Things turning out good

A situation improving

Problems going away

Maybe some fine day

I will be so Zen

That I will have no thoughts at all

But for today

I will fill my inner landscape

With pretty things

So I can enjoy

My Secret Inner Garden
