Poem I wrote

WILD BLUE YONDER

Not knowing what's going to happen

Makes an anxious person more anxious

All the things that can go wrong

March in goose-step before our mind's eye

I was an anxious person

Any new situation immediately triggered fear and worry

Which has also been called "overthinking"

But thinking is not the real problem

Anxiety is the problem

Being an anxious person in general

Is the problem

I have begun the process, gradually, bit by bit

Of converting my anxiety into a Sense of the Mysterious

A fancy way of saying "I don't know what's going to be."

The Mysterious tells me that's okay

Have faith in yourself

Have faith in your sincere efforts

The Mysterious points out that life, in its infinite variety

Is not a problem to be solved

But an adventure to be lived

Skills to be honed, or created as needed

Only the Mysterious

Lets us greet each new day, each new challenge

With a twinkle in our eye, with courage in our heart

Confidence in our ability to cope

As we bravely step into the unknown

Open to possibilities, ready for the challenge

Hopefully with companions by our side

To encourage us along the way

As I am encouraging you right now

To open your mind to the possibility

That things might go well, might turn out for the best

Might be the next step in your development

As a Mystic
