COLOR CURE

Some people get the blues

But I get the greens

When the only thing that can

Lift my mood

Is being surrounded by trees

The leaves whisper to me:

"It's going to be all right.

My child

You can be renewed

Enjoy your day, sway joyfully

In a dance with the winds of change.

Just stand strong."

DEMON GRUDGE

He got up in the morning

So did his Grudge

It was prickly and heavy

But it just wouldn't budge!

It stayed with him all day

He took it to bed

That miserable Grudge

That lived in his head

His Grudge was annoying

It ate up his time

Diverted attention

Without reason or rhyme

A Grudge becomes wearisome

Day after day

Like a loop of bad film

On endless replay

The cumbersome Grudge

Makes it hard to move on

Oh the blessed relief!

When the Grudge is put down

DUST TO DUST

.

.

I have abandoned altars

Where once I worshipped devoutly

But now those gods are dead

Their shrines covered in dust

The candles unlit, the silver tarnished

The place where I once stood in reverence

Empty

My mind has flown, like a dove

Over the stormy seas of dogma

To find more fertile lands

Where there is peace and harmony

Where the Earth and Sky, the Alpha and Omega

Are One

BEWARE

Some things come with a curse

Poverty, illness or worse

So ask yourself first, is this really worth

The misery, heartache and pain?

.

.

Cursed things might look like fun

You won't remember until you've begun

That this is a trap, steel jaws that snap

Please, don't put yourself through that again.

Poem I wrote

 UP, UP, AND AWAY

How I wish I could float above the carnage

On lofty clouds of thought

Above concerns of mortals

Unfortunately, I'm not

Able to rise so high and free

To look down from above

The closest I ever get to this

Is to rise on wings of love

THE CLUB

Did you have foolish notions when you were naive?

Did you go through the motions while others deceive?

Did you try and fail, and finally grieve?

Then welcome, welcome, welcome

To the club, my friend

.

.

Did you screw things up and make mistakes?

Do too much, get the shakes?

Hang out with a bunch of flakes?

Then welcome, welcome, welcome

To the club, my friend

.

.

Did you run up debts you could not repay?

Groan when you started another day?

Would not listen to what wise ones say?

Then welcome, welcome, welcome

To the club, my friend

.

.

Did you have to start over, learn from mistakes?

Swear to get better, whatever it takes?

Move to higher ground, pull up stakes?

Then welcome, welcome, welcome

To the club, my friend

EVERYONE WORE HATS

.

.

At one time in America

Everyone wore hats

Society agreed

Hats is where it's at

Now if we can just replace

A kind heart for a hat

(Can you imagine that?)

Think of the peace

Think of the new start

When there is kindness in each heart

We only have to tip the scale

By opinion, to prevail

Show everyone, everywhere that

Kindness is the new hat.
