MISS REPRESENTATION

 .

.

.

MISS REPRESENTATION

.

.

As a child I read fairy tales about the witch in the woods

The stories often portrayed the witch as evil

Green, warty, toothless, cackling while she cooked children

In a big cauldron

Even as a little kid I knew this was completely wrong

I knew the witch in the woods took in lost children

Protected them, kept them from those that would consume them

With horrifying tales of hell and damnation

She showed the children that nature was their friend

Something children instinctively know

That those who would destroy nature, take but never give back

They are the danger, not the wild woman

The woman who knows her own mind

Who does not bend to the will of those that would define her

As second, less than, a vessel for the uses of an agenda

When I was a child, I did not understand how a woman ended up

Living away from the dense population with her herbs, spells, and candles

But when my foot finally found my path

I knew that this was the life I wanted, the life I needed

What a blessing it is to get to the gentle embrace of the trees

The warmth of the sun, the fresh breeze blowing off the mountain

Celebrating nature's bounty and harvest this holy time of year

When the veil thins, and the energy renews to face winter and hope

Hope for spring, flowers, bunnies, and new green leaves.

THE HAUNTED MIND

 .

.

.

THE HAUNTED MIND

.

.

The haunted mind, filled with ghosts from the past

Has fantastic visions of what could, or should, have been

The haunted mind makes dire predictions for the future

Yet is stuck in the past where nothing can be changed

Except our interpretatations of what happened

Instead of predicting the future,

The haunted mind needs to interpret the past

To look in a magic mirror and see how young and naive you were

How the odds were stacked against you

How bravely you tried, your motives driven by hurt and fear

How very far you have come

Predict your survival, predict developing wisdom and skill

The candle of clarity will drive the ghosts from the haunted mind

So you may enter every room in your castle and find them swept bare

Ready for today, for the now, where no ghost can follow.

BELEAVING

 .

.

.

LEAVING SUMMER

.

.

The sadness of Fall can seep into the marrow of our very bones

The leaves falling, reminding us of the passage of time

The temporary nature of our summers

Winter is coming and the holidays, all difficult times

Watching the leaves swirl in the chilly wind

Like missed opportunities

We begin to reflect on the past

A past gone like last year's leaves

Compost for the garden we will plant in the Spring

We must make our fall a happy time if we can

Gathering pretty leaves, fall foods, crafts and decorations

Warming our hands and intentions

With a nice hot cup of comfort

We can not stop time

Yet we can push back against the sad reminders of life's fragility

Do some special fall things to create cheer

Turn the spectres into our companions and guides

When the veil thins, we can see something so profoundly beautiful

It fills the Universe like glittering stars of mystery

REFRAMED

 .

.

.

REFRAMED

.

.

You did not waste your life

You lived your life

If you made some poor choices

Well, that's what living life is

A series of choices, many many choices

Naturally they will not all be terrific

If you fell in with unworthy companions

All is not lost

You can make better informed choices

You can select worthy companions

The past experiences, once heavy jagged rocks in our hearts

Now become the foundation stones

On which we build our futures

All that trial and error will pay off

The dead ends change into paths

So you can go back and get that lost confused young person

You left baffled by the wayside

Hand in hand you will form the new tower

With a beacon on top called hope.

THE MERRY VISIONARIES

.

.

THE MERRY VISIONARIES

.

.

A long time ago we never thought slavery would be abolished

But it was

We never thought women could vote

But they did

We never suspected that one day we would be able

To converse with people all over the would

But we do

This gives me hope for the things still in the works

The problems unsolved, the lives unsaved, the illnesses not yet eradicated

We never thought we would join together for the betterment of all

But we have, and now we work to accomplish other solutions

Peace, abundance, fellowship, and maybe immortality

We are, we are, The Merry Visionaries

THE PATH TO PEACE

 .

.

.

THE PATH TO PEACE

Before we set our foot on the Path to Peace

We must first consider what we must remove from our luggage

The Path to Peace is demanding, so our loads must be light

We must remove the broken mirror of regret

Every last shard and splinter

Regret is in the past, but the Path to Peace is only now

Always now

We must jettison our expectations

On the conduct of others, which we can not control

Except to invite them to walk with you or part ways

Perhaps the heaviest item we are leaving behind

Is the need to be right, to prevail

The blame that no longer needs to be assigned to anyone

Will fade in memory

The Path to Peace is not for everyone

Only for those that see the role peace plays in

Sanity and well-being, fun, and enjoying the beauties of nature

ON THE ROAD TO LIMERENCE

 .

.

ON THE ROAD TO LIMERENCE

Limerence is a fantastic place

Shangri La built on cloud nine

Where you can fly around on Cupid's wings

Everything peachy keen fine

.

.

It is pleasant to visit Limerence

A diversion so divine

Yet Limerence is a dream within a dream

That can pop and dissolve at any time

THE BEST HALLOWEEN

.

THE BEST HALLOWEEN

.

.

For Halloween this year I am going to be the latest version of me

This one is pretty close to who I always wanted to be

This year for Halloween I will remove the masks I was forced to wear

Revealing who I was in the beginning before I was required to develop

A fake me to give everyone what they expected and wanted

This year it's just me, Trick or Treat

LION OF COURAGE

 .

.

.

LION OF COURAGE

.

.

If we are going to get discouraged

Now is not the time

Now it is vital you keep your spirits raised

To see over the wall of ill will and ignorance

That threatens to hem us in

Our morale must be golden

The shiny coins we spend to pay our way

Our foundations are solid, built on our inner truths

A philosophy of open mindedness through which we see possibilities

The great and good events that will come to pass

If discouragement comes sniveling and whining around

To bite at our ankles as we walk our paths

We can chase it away with the lion of courage

That lives fiercely in our heart caves

We roar our defiance

We will not give up, we will not fall fainting by the wayside

We will help our companions back to their feet and we march on

Today is the day for courage

SMOKE SIGNALS

 .

.

.

SMOKE SIGNALS

We must live in the world as it is

While working each day to change it

We are working towards sanity and peace

However we try to arrange it

.

.

We live next to a volcano

That is always threatening to blow

We just go about our business

It's the only life we know

WE CAN SEE PEACE

 .

.

.

WE CAN SEE PEACE

.

.

When we have done all we can

Or all we are going to do

But things are still out of hand

Our precious inner peace is disturbed

That is when we break out the tactic of last resort

We can simply pretend it's not happening

We turn our backs, a silent wall

That excludes the situation from the theater in our minds

If peace is our priority, and outer peace is unattainable

Then inner peace becomes the next logical step

Cutting out the vexatious like a mental photoshop

We can see peace inside ourselves, a tranquil scene

Soon our reality shifts, we only want peace

To breathe in peace, exhale peace, live in peace

Our reality can shift to seeing peace, how peace is attainable

Within our own hearts and minds

Where it might eventually spread out like a garden of hope

To cover the whole tumultuous scene with beauty and tranquility

ZIPPITY DOO DAH

 .

.

ZIPPITY DOO DAH

Oh the teeny tiny neutrino

How it likes to dance and sing

It can zoom through space for light years

And never hit a thing

.

.

You will never see it

As it passes swiftly through

Bringing cosmic messages

From the Universe to You

THE BICKERSONS

 .

.

.

THE BICKERSONS

Some folks like to argue

To challenge your every word

They analyze each thing you say

To point out where you erred

.

.

There's no point in arguing

Or getting into a fight

While you are trying to communicate

They are trying to be right

BLOCKED

 .

.

.

BLOCKED

If someone has depression

That is not their choice

But one thing that is helpful

Is recognizing depression's voice

.

.

Depression is a mindset

That tells you things untrue

Like you will never be happy

Nobody cares about you

.

.

If you knew a shady guy

Who filled your head with lies

Who crushed your enthusiasm

Who discouraged all your tries

.

.

You would learn to ignore it

That negative BS is not true

So while depression might still happen

It can no longer talk to you

DREAMS REALIZED

 .

.

.

DREAMS REALIZED

.

.

When we wake up in the morning

To the first hopeful sun beams

With one foot on the floor

The other foot still in dreams

.

.

That's a very important moment

Before we leave our beds

We can form our day's intentions

Like a vision in our heads

.

.

We can intend to do better

At the actions we wish to improve

We can consider our motivations

What will put us in the groove

.

.

Every sleep is a reboot

A chance to start anew

Set your goal intentions

Then head off towards the true

ZOOMERS

 .

.

.

ZOOMERS

The Solar System flies through the Universe

Along with the whole Milky Way

We are never in the same place

As we were yesterday

.

.

From this I have devised a theory

About this vast void we roam

As we pass through millions of miles

Sometimes we fly through a Twilight Zone

.

.

What can we do when this happens?

Batten the hatches on our rotund spaceship again

Until we fly through a more reasonable area

Our civilization we must maintain

BOTH

 .

.

.

BOTH

When our Higher Selves make a decision

Our Lower Selves might not agree

We end up with an inner conflict

About the way things should be

We want to be our best version

At least that is the Higher Self's aim

The Lower Self wants carnal pleasures

And thinks hard work and effort a pain

We can't just be our Higher Selves

Our Lower Selves will put up a squawk

It is best to try and negotiate

Invite our Lower Selves in for a talk

While our Higher Selves want to be fit

And think strenuous exercise is dandy

Our Lower Selves just want to relax

Have fun and eat lots of candy

Our Lower Selves are like children

Their judgement is fickle and errant

Our Higher Selves must step up to the plate

As a kind but firm loving parent

Now look at the names and tell me this

Does your own name top the list?

HALL OF MIRRORS

 .

.

.

THE HALL OF MIRRORS

Truth won't chase you

Through the corridors of self-deception

There is no exit in the maze of self-justifying thoughts

There is no way to stop the lava of inner rage

From oozing down the sides of our moral high ground

Nor remove the blinders of opinion and conclusions

No, nothing can penetrate the ego's bastions

We must decide to dismantle them ourselves

Because we feel lonely and lost

There are many maps - teachings and good advice

When we are ready to escape

The Hall of Mirrors

CLIMBING THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE TO SAVE A KITTEN

 .

.

.

CLIMBING THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE TO SAVE A KITTEN

.

.

When the horror present in living existence

Is revealed to our innocent questioning minds

We can recoil from this knowledge

Insulate ourselves with diversions and pretty shiny things

We can immerse ourselves in play horror

Like children do to master powerful coping skills

Or

We can do our little part to try and reduce

The angry chaos, suffering and sorrow in our immediate area

Laying right in our paths

The knowledge of good and evil does not have to crush our spirits

It can turn us into Peace Warriors

Doing what we can, when we can

To make this world the Garden we all envision

I LAND

 .

.

.

I LAND

The little boat started to sink

We floundered around in the drink

Swam til we can't swim any more

Waves washed us up on some shore

We lay hurt and played out in the sand

Until we gather the strength to stand

Take faltering steps away from strife

Moving into an unknown life

We begin our new life in the now

And remake a new life somehow

This time we have information and skills

And who knows what's just over those hills?

AN OPINION IS A DOOR NAILED SHUT

 .

.

.

AN OPINION IS A DOOR NAILED SHUT

When we form an opinion

The opinion becomes the filter through which we view the world

We like something because it agrees with our opinion

We dislike something because it disagrees with our opinion

An opinion is a disadvantage to learning and growth

An opinion is a done deal

But a theory is open to revision

Open to modification and welcomes

New information

An opinion wants to argue because it threatens

The identity of the opinionated one

A theory is open to revision

Welcomes new information

A theory can be based on the same feelings as an opinion

But without the hard cutting edge of rejection

A theory expands and includes

An opinion closes off and excludes

So a theory is far superior to an opinion

At least, that is my theory.

CUP OF WISDOM

CUP OF WISDOM

You will fill your cup

Your empty cup

With the wonderful things

You deserve

And sweeten your cup

If the contents grow bitter

With your kindness and tenderness

Flowing like nature's wild honey

To soothe and heal what life made raw

The fire of knowledge will warm your cup

When the contents grow cold

And give your silver age a golden glow

Your steady hand will hold this blessing cup

To lovingly bring it to your lips

Because your cup holds magic and eternity

Filled with swirling stars to nourish you

Within the Universe of Forever

A WORD TO THE WISE

 .

.

.

A WORD TO THE WISE

.

.

Hooray for the old tried and true

The methods we've used to get through

New things pop up every day

But are they better? Who can say.

.

.

I don't make butter in a churn

But the ancient lessons I have learned

From the invisible Mystic School

Taught me the Golden Rule

.

.

Being kind and polite never gets old

A loving heart is as good as gold

Many have walked the peace path before

We can follow it to the future's door.

TERROR WORD

 .

.

.

TERROR WORD

.

.

A word that embodies all the terrors of the unknown

Is "Suddenly"

True, there are some nice suddenlies

As in "Suddenly the sun broke through the dark clouds"

Unfortunately some suddenlies are not nice at all

We can't predict or foretell when the next suddenly will appear

However we can prepare for a suddenly

A stocked pantry. healthy lifestyle, financial nest egg

Everyone will have an encounter with suddenly at one time or another

We can support each other through our suddenlies

And keep our guards up too.
