THE GREATEST ESCAPE
.
.
When our thoughts are the bars to our mental incarceration
Anything you can do to escape the prison of painful thoughts
Seems like a good idea
Like using substances to float away into Oblivion
But no one can live on Oblivion, it is an illusion
When the fog of Oblivion lifts things are worse than they ever were
And we are still in prison, only the bars are thicker and stronger now
The bars must be cut, bit by bit, but how?
With the file of philosophy, smuggled in past the guards
Who only want to maintain the status quo
.
.
Now, with philosophy and art,
We painstakingly saw our way out of the rage cage
We knot positive thoughts together to form a rope
And carefully lower ourselves to Earth, solid ground
Then we are free to explore
The many rich possibilities of freedom.
