RESCUE MISSION

 .

.

.

RESCUE MISSION

.

.

Sometimes we have to revisit hell

Back to the flames and pain

To feel for the little trembling hand

Our younger selves we must regain

And guide that poor child out of the past

Bring them into the Now to see

That the child can live in comfort and peace

Forever safe, protected and free

POLITICIAN VS. STATESMAN

 .

.

.

POLITICIAN VS. STATESMAN

.

.

When a politician has dreams and aspirations

What are they?

Do they dream and aspire to move the country forward

Relieve suffering, find better solutions?

Or do they dream and aspire

To gain personal power, receive money over and under

The table, sell their policies to the highest bidder?

We can not know which dreams and aspirations

A politician is motivated by

But we can see what they do, how they act

Who their allies are

Then we can vote accordingly

Because we have dreams and aspirations too

WHY WHY

 .

.

.

WHY WHY

.

.

The question I have learned never to ask is why

When it comes to human behavior

There are too many reasons why

Or no good reason, or too many variables

To find out why

Why did I act like that? Why were they so cruel?

What answer would satisfy me or have any soothing effect at all?

We humans act first and ask questions later

If we ask any questions at all

We can speculate, pontificate,  obfuscate

But in the end we will never get the answer to "Why?"

REFERRAL

REFERRAL

.

If you want to learn how to fix a car

You can go to Auto Repair School

If you want to learn how to play golf

You take golf lessons from a pro

But if you want to repair a mangled heart

Damaged self-esteem, hopes that have dimmed

You will need a Specialist

You need to go right to The Source

SCULLERY

 .

.

.

SCULLERY

.

.

I wish I had a personal staff

To scurry from the scullery

Readying  things for me

Before my feet touch the floor

And then scurry around behind me

Straightening out my messes

As I whirl like a princess or movie star

In a cocktail gown

Though my day

But I do not have a personal staff

The best I can do is set things up

For myself, later on and tomorrow

I thank the earlier me for making the life of the

Current me easier.

QUANTUM MINDFULNESS

 .

.

.

QUANTUM MINDFULNESS

Where does a belief exist?

It is not on a mountain top

Or at the bottom of the sea

A belief exists in the mind of the believer

It is only there, within that mind

That a belief can ever be changed, modified

Or completely discarded

How do we pull back the veil and take a look

At these beliefs?

By watching our actions, our priorities

Our attractions

Under the bright sun of observation

Beliefs which are obviously not working

For us are working against us

And might need to be replaced.

THE TRICK

THE TRICK

From the moment we are born

Until the moment of our departure

From this mortal plane

We have to be somewhere doing something

The Trick is to figure out where we want to be

And what we want to be doing there

BUGGY

 .

.

.

BUGGY

.

.

I often think about the Buggy Whip King

The guy who made his living making buggy whips

At one time everyone who had a buggy also had a buggy whip

Buggy whips were they Buggy Whip King's life, his bread and butter

His sole gainful occupation, he employed others to meet the demand

His father made buggy whips and his father's father

A skill passed on through generations

Every morning the Buggy Whip King would read the paper

Over breakfast, before he set off to work

Jaunty and prosperous

To his buggy whip factory

He read the paper, bird song floating through the lace curtains

Merely glancing at a small article about an inventor in far away Detroit

Named Henry Ford.

FLIGHT OF THE WHITE LIGHT

 .

.

.

FLIGHT OF THE WHITE LIGHT

If right makes might

Does might make right?

What about sight?

We need light for sight

To make darkness take flight

And set everything right

A pleasing invite

Thus avoiding fight or flight

Or struggling mightily day and night

So I don't know if might makes right

Or right makes might

But I will know when light

Illuminates what is right

UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES

 .

.

.

UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES

.

.

George Washington, the Father of our country

Freed his slaves in his will

When the loss of work income and wealth in slaves

Could not impact him

He had no biological children

He appeared to protect Martha

From this loss also

By specifying the slaves only be freed

Upon Martha's death

He died, his conscience soothed by the thought

He had protected his wealth and

Maintained the status quo for his wife

But ultimately did the right thing and gave the slaves

Their freedom

(Upon Martha's demise)

But what he really did was give slaves

Desperate for freedom

The desire for Martha's immediate death

Put that thought in the forefront of the slave's minds

And put the mortal fear in Martha that the slaves now had

A very powerful motive to kill her

A year later she signed manumission papers

For all George's slaves

So she could sleep at night

In her nightgown and bedcap

Without thinking every creaking floorboard

Was someone coming to slit her throat.

Did she think about what he did

The terrifying situation he put her in

As his final act in this world?

HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD

 .

.

.

HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD

.

.

In the morning I look up at the sky

It is not filled with UFO's

Swooping in to take over the world

Just a clear sky tinted with rose

.

.

In the morning I look out the window

Glad for what I don't see

Hordes of shuffling moaning Zombies

Moving slowly towards juicy-brained me

.

.

No Bigfoot coming out of the woods

No Vampires rise from their graves

No Mole People tunneling up through the earth

No Robot Monsters lurking in caves

.

.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon

The Blob from Outer Space

The Werewolves showing their big white teeth

The Thing with the morphing face

.

.

The old horror movies gave me a glimpse

Of a world gone crazily mad

But there are no monsters outside my window today

And for that I am gratefully glad.

GEE - P.S.

 .

.

.

GEE - P.S.

.

.

When your path is blocked

By fallen trees and rocks

Or Crazy People who put up roadblocks

Or raging random fires, furious flash floods

Snakes and startled scorpions slithering out of the woods

When your pretty path becomes impossibly impassable

There is nothing to more say

Except turn around carefully and try to find

Another way

Or wait however long on the edgy edge

Hoping someone will come along and fix it.

We must make a plan, all the while knowing

Something might come along and nix it.

FINDING OUT

 .

.

.

FINDING OUT

.

.

There is vital information on the Internet

In books, stored in someone's head

Maybe even floating around in the Akashic records

The trick is to figure out a way

To seek out this information, for research

Thus learning new things each day

Is essential for our survival, growth and success

To escape our current limitations

And, bit by bit,  figure out our course of action

The way out of whatever tight place

We might find ourselves cornered in

At the moment

THE TRUTH OF REALITY

 .

.

.

THE TRUTH OF REALITY

.

.

The truth of reality is like the Sun

Casting a bright, clinical light on everything

Making navigation, detail work and evaluation

Easier because we can see quite clearly

What needs to be addressed, mended, discarded

The truth of reality is like the Sun

Our limited human gaze can barely glance

Directly at that celestial burning bush

Lest we go blind with terror and splendor

MANIPULATION

 .

.

.

MANIPULATION

.

.

Don't let Emergency Psychology throw you off balance.

Be prepared for someone to run around screaming

"The sky is falling!"

"The wolf is at the door!"

"Pay my bail!"

They are saying "You must immediately give me money

To stave off my current disaster."

A disaster many years in the making

Or even a created disaster to panic you into

Handing over money and resources

The truth is, the faster you are urged to act

The more you need to slow down and think

What if I wasn't here to fix this for them?

If they handled the situation themselves

They would learn some important life lessons

Develop coping skills, plan ahead

Instead of just making their problem

My problem

In the long run, you are doing them a favor

Not doing them this favor

But encouraging them to figure things out

So the next time they have some inner resources

To draw from.

THE BEACON OF LOVINGKINDNESS

The Path out of suffering

Is not more suffering

The Path out of suffering is kindness

The Path out of illusion

Is not new illusions

Only Sight can eliminate blindness

So study and learn and carefully observe

What precisely is disrupting your peace

Bit by bit, moment by moment

The grip of suffering can be released

DANCE OF INFINITE VEILS

 .

.

.

DANCE OF INFINITE VEILS

.

.

If we knew with absolute certainty

There was no one last final veil

But that the veils go on and on

Forever and ever

Ad infinitum, ad nausea, ad inargute

Would we still keep whisking the veils away

As fast as humanly possible

From the naked form of the Truth?

THOUGHTS

 .

.

.

THOUGHTS

.

.

Sometimes. when we respond to a situation

With panic, fear, worry or dread

It is because we are not responding to the situation

We are responding to our THOUGHTS

About the situation

Which is an important distinction

Because our thoughts can encompass

Every possible negative outcome

And even some nearly impossible negative outcomes

While the situation itself  rarely

If ever

Ends with every possible disastrous outcome

Occurring at once

Or at all, except in our fevered

HIS FAULT

 .

.

.

HIS FAULT

.

.

Oh how she wanted to blame him

For everything

To connect the dots in such a way

That they draw a glaring arrow of blame

Pointing right at him

Every unfortunate turn of events

His fault

Every breakdown of healthy communication

His fault

Debt, unhappiness, running out of toothpaste

His fault

Because he could have, he would have, he should have

But he didn't

So it was all his fault

Which is most unfortunate

Because without objective review

We don't see our own big glaring weaknesses

Much less attempt to fix them

She is moving on from Mr. Awful

With all her character defects intact

Unchallenged

Because she insists it was all

His fault

DANGER TANGO

 .

.

.

DANGER TANGO

We don't have to kill ourselves

All at once

We can do it bit by bit

Like burn all our art in frustration

Or engineer a big financial hit

Do something so heinous

Society pushes us aside

Let an addiction get worse and worse

Until all hope has died

Drive drunk like a maniac, gain 500 pounds

Smoke while using an oxygen tank

Play with guns or bombs

Death has a weird fascination

As we watch daredevil stunts

And there is always time to turn things around

If we don't die all at once.

PRECAUTIONS

.

While she was asleep someone tried all her doors

Which she had prudently locked

He tried to look in her windows

But her curtains had them blocked

He looked in her car for something to steal

But the car was empty and clean

So the serial killer moved on to easier prey

And her home was not a crime scene

ROAD RAGE

 .

.

.

ROAD RAGERS

The Fiat was in a tearing rush

Passing cars left and right

It blew right past a Mercedes Benz

Who jumped in for a fight

They flew down the road neck and neck

Weaving out and in

The normal traffic drove safely

They weren't trying to "win"

The ragers passed car after car

Both were stopped by the light

Cursing and swearing the hotheads revved

Their engines, both were hyped

When the light changed they peeled off

The gestures were obscene

The lane opened up and the Fiat took off

Never again to be seen

The Mercedes was furious the Fiat prevailed

They cursed their rotten luck

Hit the gas, crossed the double yellow line

Went head on into a truck

The Fiat got home, the driver had a nice meal

Thus the tale of his road rage ends

Three weeks in the hospital for the Mercedes guy

Visited by family and friends

Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose

Sometimes we just turn the page

Life is a gamble and your life is the bet

When you can't control road rage

SEEK WISDOM

 .

.

.

SEEK WISDOM

.

.

Lesson learned, it is what it is

We can't go back to our past

But we can clutch Wisdom to our hearts

Because only wisdom lasts

.

.

We gather rosebuds while we may

But eventually they fade

Only Wisdom remains in the end

Like a fossil from the Naive Age

.

.

Wisdom can be written down

Wisdom can be shared

Others may benefit from our mis-steps

They might be better prepared

.

.

If your burden is sad or heavy

If the situation is not clear

Seek Wisdom, my Friend, seek wisdom

That has been passed down through the years
