OPINION - EYES
.
.
When someone expresses their opinion
It is as if they told me their eye color
They are telling me something about themselves
There is nothing to argue about
If their opinion, or eye color, is different from mine
No need for anger or name-calling
Because their opinion is simply a fact about themselves
Which does not call for a volatile reaction
Or an attempt to argue them into another point of view
Which never works
It lets me know who they are, and what they believe
When they express themselves and opinionize

HIGHER SELF
You are the whisper in my mind
Intelligent, fun, and hopefully kind
You are the unknown element
Mysterious and heaven sent
You are the thinker, I am the thought
The active volcano, erupting hot
You are wise, and so am I
We are the clouds, we are the sky

THE LAST BATTLE
.
.
The Berserker spirit of the antique warrior
Still survives to this day
But what use is it in these modern times?
With warfare evolved into drones and mechanics
And opportunities for very few with the Berserker spirit
To actually engage in war
Instead the ancient warrior spirit rages
In their homes, their communities, on the road
In the bar when alcohol has unleashed their fury
Filled with the vengence, filled with the unsettled scores
Of their ancestors
The warrior looks to the outer world to confront the enemy
However the real battle, nowadays, is primarily internal
The Berserker must have a commander, an inner battle plan
For the greatest battle of all is within,
The mightiest warrior is the one who conquers themself
Who correctly identifies the Enemy, cunning and insidious
That has already breached the Ego gates to wreak havoc
In the heart and mind of the Ancient Warrior

SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA TO ME
.
.
If an idea is a bad idea
I prefer to know it's a bad idea
Right away
Not after I have invested time and effort
Into the idea (which turned out to be bad)
This means I need to approach all my good ideas
With my mind open to the possibility
That this idea might really be a bad idea
That I might need to pull the plug right away
Not putting any more precious time and effort
Into something that will never pay off
As I had hoped
This frees me to come up with a new idea
Using what I have just learned to form a new theory
A new good idea to run up the flagpole
And see who salutes it.

TESTIMONY
The abuser may not know nor care
The identity of the victim or the specifics of the crime
But the victim knows every minute detail
Every lasting consequence to their health and mind

CONFIDENCE

Confidence really matters
It shines like the Sun in the sky
You may not be confident you will succeed
But you can be confident you will try

GROUCH
Chronic annoyance makes everything harder
It leaves our minds less free
To make healthy rational decisions
Or be who we want to be

WHEN
.
.
She'll be coming round the mountain
She'll be coming round the bend
The mountain trail is so winding
She can never see the end
.
.
Onward she will travel
Over hill and over dale
Sometimes friends walk with her
As she hikes along her trail
.
.
There are many glorious beauties
There are dangers out there too
She must factor in the weather
She must make her footsteps true
.
.
We each have our mountain trail
Sometimes our paths converge
Someday we'll reach the trail's end
Where all our paths will merge

HAND THEATER
.
.
I watch my hands
Carry out my plans
They move according to my will
I wear bracelets and rings
To decorate the things
As I watch them act
Or be still.

LOOK ALL AROUND
.
.
An obsession is just hyper-focus
It does not involve hocus pocus
Natural rules still apply
To Earth, sea and sky
Too much of anything might choke us
