NOTHING TO ENVY
.
.
I try to imagine who, in this complicated uncertain life
Does not, at one time or another, get a raw deal.
Who does not get cheated, lied to, forced to act against our will?
I try to imagine who has this perfect life
I picture someone attractive, living in wealth and ease
A talent of the human mind is to imagine this, but it might not be true
Surely illness and problems arise for everyone
And the mighty do fall hard and fast sometimes
I suspect no one has, or ever had, a trouble free life
But what if they did, what if every moment of theirs was golden?
How would that change our own struggles to improve our lives?
Our community, and even the world.
The lucky ones (if they exist) live in our minds
Where we can easily evict them, and put a needed plan of action
In place for the betterment of our own circumstances
We will fight for fairness until fairness is achieved
In the meantime, let us look at our lives with favor
Give ourselves the very best chance to succeed.
