JUSTICE FOR ALL
Assigning blame is usually a pointless exercise in futility
A waste of time because all things are connected to a myriad of events
Stretching back until they are lost in the mists of memory
The one exception is the one humans created
Perhaps based on the biological imperative that all young must get a fair share
Of whatever resources are available to insure their life until they too
Can reproduce and share assets with their young
The exception is the Court of Law
We have a unique need for fairness and morality, social order
That goes beyond "might makes right"
Because brawn is not the only thing society needs
In a court of law powerful enforcers protect our rights
These laws, whether handed down from a divine source
Or invented by clear thinkers, bit by bit through trial and error
In multiple cultures and societies
Preventing unruly humans from running amok
Taking what they want, doing as they please
In a human society there are necessary limits on behavior
That can be insisted upon by the non-mighty, the least of these
We can all have our day in court
Our legal system isn't perfect but it is a step up from
Nature red in tooth and claw
Every nation is a nation of laws
This is doing something nature does not do
A civilized society imposes fairness and bestows safety
In a world that can be very unfair and unsafe
Law is not a religion but might have its roots in scriptures
Both giving guidance on how to live righteously and abundantly
The difference being that the law has clout to intervene with force, if necessary
To enforce Justice for All
