LIAR TRAINING
.
.
When harsh punishment is a threat
For the many mistakes and learning experiences a child
Naturally has as they navigate their way towards maturity
That child becomes separated from day to day reality
Because the larger and more immediate reality
Of fear causes them to triangulate the tale of actual events
With the current threat and the answers that they hope
Will deflect, neutralize, invent or mold the truth
Into something non-punishable.
Truth is the collateral damage to the threat the child lives with
And the skill of lying is honed and polished until
Truth, sliced up and reinvented, dissected gossamer thin
Virtually disappears, a chasm widening each day
Between the child's grasp of reality and the fear induced lies
The clever child needs for self-protection
