I have become SUCH a big fan of hers. I have never read an author with such command of style, language and genre. Her subject matter is sometimes dark, but her books are liberally seasoned with humor of the most droll and tongue in cheek kind. If there was a Joyce Carol Oates Christmas ornament I would hang it on my tree! Hope your reading is great!
ReplyDeleteyou detail her writing very well. she is brilliant, much like yourself. her writing is significantly darker and intense -which is turn off to many but I do not find it unappealing since it recognizes aspects of life that most try to minimize or ignore. I concur with much of her thoughts and opinions, in real life and in her writing too.
ReplyDeletemake yourself an ornament! or an alter! stack the books and top with flameless candle! I only wish for a bit of the mind and intellect she holds. ah, pea brain is jealous ;P
happy day and reading to you too

It's wonderful we share this author, we can both be in JCO's mind at the same time! Love the idea of the books and candle, she deserves it. You're right about those flameless candles, I switched once I began to fear I might forget and leave a real one burning. Happy Tuesday, Z dear.
