DOCTOR OF S b W

.

.

How much does a lesson cost?

Sometimes it does not cost very much

A small adjustment fixes it

A few dollars, half an hour

Lesson learned.

Sometimes the lesson is very costly

Taking all our money, all our time

Every hope in our heart of hearts

Sometimes it costs our whole reality

Such an expensive lesson should not be wasted

It is vital that we learn from those harsh, bitter, devastating lessons

Vital that we learn the right thing

That there are people, places, things

Which will never work in our best interests

We get our "Sadder but Wiser" degrees

If you never got your diploma, let me hand you one now

Congratulations graduate, go forth into this world of choices

You can set up your own business - succeed and prosper

As the new, well-educated, highly skilled version of you.

BIG ROCK CAN BE MOUNTAIN

.

.

We can't get proper perspective

From the bottom of our mountain

The foothills of formal education

Are only a little better

No, we must climb that rocky, steep slope

Resting here and there along the way

To catch our breath, refresh our spirits

Reassess our strategies

We can't stay on a flinty ledge for too long

Rockbound, petrified with apprehension

No, we must continue our climb, however arduous

However dizzying, to the tippy top

There we will survey the lay of the land

Gather perspective, devise strategies

Then, when we make our descent,

Filled with the glow of accomplishment

We will know almost everything we need to know

To rule our kingdoms wisely

COME ON DOWN

.

.

I woke up this morning

(Always a good thing)

To the theme from "The Price is Right"

Playing inside my skull

I never watched the show

So the value in this remains a mystery

Though I did see the show mentioned casually

On a different show.

For some reason my brain latched on

To this inconsequential fact and has been bouncing

The thing around for days, unbeknown to me

A program running in the background

For no apparent purpose

Whatsoever

How I wish

There was not

A petty bone

In my body

INVOCATION

Here I am, New Day

With my many foibles and flaws

Please guide all my thoughts and actions

Towards a good and worthy cause.

EQUALS EQUALS EQUALS

Which are more problematic

Women or men?

Whichever one you choose

Better think again.
