poem I wrote

.

ONE SMALL STEP

.

.

To have all your dearest hopes dashed

Crushed, beaten down, slashed

To stand on a shredded pile of hope

Is a hard place to start to cope

So begin ever so gently and small

If you can't feel any hope at all

Cause when you're at the end of your rope

You can always hope to have hope to have hope

poem I wrote

 .

.

THE CHICKEN AND THE EGG

The thoughts you think when you're happy

And the thoughts you think when you're down

Are caused by the fickle changes in moods

Or is it the other way round?

YOU CAN'T GET THERE FROM HERE
.
.
.
.
Self-hatred is not a good place to start

Hatred of others

Is not a good place to start

To get to Happiness and Comfort

You can only get there

From reason and kindness

Towards all

CUP OF WISDOM

.

.

What will fill your cup

Your empty cup

With the wonderful things

You deserve?

What will sweeten your cup

When the contents are bitter

And hard to swallow?

Can kindness be measured in spoonfuls?

Can tenderness flow like golden honey

Into your cup of comfortless pain?

What fire will warm your cup

When the contents grow cold

And unappealing?

What hand will hold the cup

To lovingly bring it to your parched dry lips?

Which cup holds magic and eternity

Filled with swirling stars to nourish you

Forever?

NAVIGATION

.

.

The flashes of light

Inside the pitch-black cave of my skull

Reveal everything

Yet explain nothing

Like snapshots of fleeing moments

I must interpret and integrate these pictures

Into a cohesive narrative

.

.

They are all I have

To inform me

To remember my past

Plan my future

Orient myself each day

.

.

No wonder I make mistakes

Blundering along

Trying to plot my course

By a fickle moon on a jet-black night

While dense oddly shaped clouds

Scud by, parting for a moment

When I can imagine I see

The path I must take

GENTLE ALCHEMY

.

.

Self-pity is corrosive

It eats you up inside

Yet some situations are so unfair

It seems all your joy has died

.

.

Self-pity can be modified

The inner dialogue changed

To words of self-compassion

Offering insight instead of blame

.

.

So, no, you were not stupid

No, you're not a fool

You did the very best you could

The situation was not cool

.

.

You learned a valuable lesson

It's yours now, in your mind

You've earned so much better

Like a healing voice, wise and kind

.

FALL HARVEST

.

.

The invisible fruits of my mind

Are thoughts

Some are just peachy

Some are bananas

One is the apple that fell

And rolled a million light years

Away from the tree
